Volunteer Tatiana, 60, a volunteer and refugee from Ukraine, plays with her granddaughter, Alyssa, 3, at a food distribution warehouse run by DEC charity Plan International’s local partner Moldova for Peace in August, 2022.
Support for the DEC has been funding Food & Hygiene kits packed by volunteers like Tatiana for refugees to collect each week.
Moldova for Peace, is a local organisation that came together on the first day of the conflict to unite and respond to the mounting refugee crisis in Chisinau. Every week their volunteers gather en masse each Saturday to form a well-oiled-machine to pick, pack and supply essential food and non-food items that refugees here depend on. Many of the volunteers are refugees themselves who joined Moldova for Peace upon arriving in the country and now dedicate most of their free time to helping other people from Ukraine in any way they can.
